Large Area Robot

Within the framework of the research project Large Area Robot (LAR) we develop solutions for the automated production of wind energy systems in cooperation with our partners Worthmann Automation, BIK and AMT.

In a pilot installation for the production of rotor blades we show how to produce large area fiber composite structures by a mobile robot system.

The robot portal engineered in the LAR project is designed to enable more application scenarios. E.g. the system is adaptable to large area finishing like polishing of rotor blades or welding of big components with long weld seams.

Combining large reachability of the LAR portal with extensive sensor technology will open new possibilities in process automation. At this we can count on our long standing experience with sensor technology like laser stripe sensors for seam detection or force control sensors.
